Umbrella payslip check
Umbrella payslips are built to be hard to read. Photo yours and TradeCard shows what came off between the assignment rate and your gross pay, whether the margin matches your Key Information Document, and whether holiday pay, tax and National Insurance are right. Free, about 30 seconds.
What we check
Employer costs and margin
Employer's National Insurance, the apprenticeship levy and the umbrella's margin should come out of the assignment rate, not your gross pay. We show the gap and whether the margin matches what you were told.
Holiday pay
Whether holiday pay is being paid to you — rolled up each week or accrued and paid when you take it — and not quietly kept.
Tax and National Insurance on your gross
Your tax code, the tax taken and employee NI at this year's rates on the gross pay shown.
Questions people ask
Why is my take-home so much lower than the rate I was quoted?
The rate an agency quotes is often the assignment rate, which has to cover employer's NI, the levy and the umbrella's margin before you're paid. Your Key Information Document should show that journey. We check the payslip against it.
What's a Key Information Document?
A one-page document the agency must give you before you start, showing how the rate becomes your pay. If you never got one, ask for it — you're entitled to it.
What changed in April 2026?
Since 6 April 2026 the agency that supplies you can be held liable for PAYE an umbrella fails to pay. That gives you more leverage when something is wrong.
Is it free?
Yes, always. No success fee and no percentage of anything found.
This is a check against published rules, not legal or tax advice. If you're in a dispute, ACAS, a union or an adviser can act for you.
